Community Service

We respond to God’s abundant love for us and God’s call to love our neighbors by serving other people in our local community.

We do this primarily by addressing food insecurity in our community through a group of community feeding ministries known as Micah’s Caring Initiative (MCI). MCI also includes a clothing ministry.

  • Micah’s Backpack addresses food insecurity of youth in local schools by sharing 6 weekend meals plus snacks delivered directly to the students in the schools. Micah’s Backpack serves over 300 students in 10 Blacksburg schools. To sign up to join us in packing bags of food for them, click here.

  • Micah’s Snack Closets address food insecurity of youth by sharing nutritious snacks at school on class days.

  • Micah’s Soup for Seniors provides a week of meals for approximately ninety seniors living on limited resources in the Warm Hearth community. To join us in packing bags of food for them, simply show up. We normally pack at 10:00am on the last Tuesday of the month. To confirm the date and time, click here.

  • Micah’s Closet gives a week’s worth of new clothes, pajamas, shoes, socks, and a jacket to school children in need each fall and spring.

  • Micah’s Garden grows fresh produce that is distributed to hungry people through other Micah’s Caring Initiative ministries.
